Research Method
Internationalizing the Small and Medium Sized Firm – four cases
There are two main methods of research possible to use, qualitative or quantitative. The quantitative method is preferably used when there is a need to systemize easily quantifiable data, based on facts that are clear and objective (Andersen 1998). The quantitative study is limited in the sense that it does not involve more than formal interaction between the researchers and the respondents (Merriam 1994). Using the qualitative method was quite an obvious choice for the authors since that method is preferred when investigating a phenomenon of which there is low knowledge (Andersen 1998).
